Provider Relations General Information


The links below refer to various State of California Medi-Cal and Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) resources that should provide helpful information as it relates to the California Children's Services (CCS) program. State of California Children's Medical Service (CMS) branch issues updates through "This Computes!" and "Numbered Letters" and it is recommended that you review them regularly.

    "This Computes!" contains up to date changes in billing, covered procedures and drugs, code changes, etc.
  • CCS Numbered Letters 
    The California Department of Health Care services (DHCS) issues "Numbered Letters" to all California counties providing services, which inform counties of new or changed policies and/or procedures.
  • Medi-Cal Home Page
    Medi-Cal is California's Medicaid health care program. This program pays for a variety of medical services for children and adults with limited income and resources.

    Providers and billers can find many useful and informative links about programs, policies or billing.
  • Special Care Centers (SCCs)
    Special Care Centers (SCCs) provide comprehensive, coordinated health care to California Children's Services (CCS) and Genetically Handicapped Persons Program (GHPP) clients with specific medical conditions.

    A look-up directory by "Center Type" or by "CCS Approved Hospital name."
  • Provider Manuals 
    Provider manuals are a multi-part system customized to meet individual provider needs. These parts are designed to form an ideal working set of manuals. These manuals provide answers about your billing needs, such as learning about prior authorization (PAs) and billing for specific services or procedure codes.  In some cases, you may need to review more than one manual to research a particular area or question.
  • Service Code Grouping (SCG) Codes
    This frequently updated table lists Service Codes within grouping. You can use it to check if the code you are billing is in the SCG listed on your Service Authorization Request (SAR).
